Alexis Barnes is a self-taught mixed-media collage artist based in the Pacific Northwest. Working primarily with found images, paper, and analog materials, her work explores bodies, identity, femininity, vulnerability, humor, and the strange beauty of being a person. Her collages are built intuitively through layering, contradiction, and unlikely relationships between images. Softness sits beside discomfort, beauty beside absurdity, and tenderness beside things that feel a little harder to name. Her perspective is also shaped by her work and education in healthcare, where the body can be intimate, clinical, resilient, vulnerable, and ordinary all at once. Tender Devotion is an evolving archive of that practice: finished pieces, experiments, fragments, and whatever comes next.
